Hi Friends,

It's been an eventful year!

I entered the digital domain much more fully this year. I am showing my photography at Arlington Open Studios (AOS), which is online this year. The work of over 60 artists in a wide range of media will be on display and for sale from their Online Artist Market, starting Saturday November 14, 2020, through the holiday season. This is a great opportunity to support local arts and see some great work at reasonable prices. You can see 15 examples of my work on their Online Artist Directory which is up through December 31, 2020. I am also selling a selection of 10 works – photographic prints and digital downloads, notecards, and postcards - through their Online Artist Market. For more information go to https://www.acarts.org/arlington-open-studios (or Google "Arlington Center for the Arts Open Studios 2020”).

On November 14 there will be a full program of online live presentations throughout the day as part of AOS. On this date I am going to do a live interactive talk at 4:00 p.m., entitled "Why I love Photography".  In the first part of this talk I’ll explain what I love about photography, and present a range of pictures to show the kind of photographer I am. In the second section I’ll explore my development of my current project, “Peace: The Shalom Series”. I’ll discuss how photographing has become my meditative practice, my way of seeking peace. I’ll also discuss how I edit pictures to convey a theme. To join this live talk via Streamyard you have to access either Youtube or Facebook - go to Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/60762913584/posts/10157945338578585/

We all need peace in this difficult year. I hope that developing “Peace: The Shalom Series” can be an interactive process. If you have a favorite photo that conveys a sense of peace, send it to me at roy@roycrystalphoto.com. I’ll post the best ton his website and give you the recognition you deserve! I hope to see you on Saturday!

In case you can't make the live talk at 4:00 p.m., a video of the first section is on my page of the AOS Artist Directory, and on the Home page of this website.

I had two traditional photo shows this year. “Everything is Alive” was shown at the Arlington Center for the Arts. “Healing in Haiti: The Work of Agape” is currently on display at the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates Cambridge Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts; it was previously shown at Evie Salon Studio in Somerville, Massachusetts

In preparation for AOS I completely updated this website at roycrystalphoto.com.  It has five of my portfolios. The new website was put together by my good friend, tech wizard, and fine photographer Vic Glass- see his website at https://www.victorlglass.com. Thanks Vic!
